Excellent comment on the need for 240 Mpixel cameras.

Excellent comment on the need for 240 Mpixel cameras. So 106Mpixel is not enough. Actually 240Mpixel is just enough at 200 dpi. We need at least 300 dpi to print useable wall photos, which means we need more than 360 Mpixel. The comment on the need for high megapixel is very sound. We must preserve our memories. We would regret it taking them at low Mpixel some days. I still remember the days when I thought 2 Mpixel was good enough. They are now unuseable. Imagine what will happen to the 8Mpixel which are useable on PC monitors only.

Heavily processed Sony A100 10Mp DSLR raw files. Taken using Canon EOS 40D 10Mp DSLR fixed with a Vivitar 2.8mm f1.9 ailing lens. There are a lot of fungus inside the lens. I managed to clean a little of it but much still remains. The exposure was little processed from the original raw file.

Minsun 5Mp C Industrial camera with Student Metal Microscope

Mine microscope is similar to this one but I bought it from Aliexpress sent via Singapore Registered Mail and arrived in less than 30 days. It came with 5 sample slides which I photographed above. It cost me RM200. No eyepiece. Objectives used were 4x, 10x and 40x. The 40x objective is barely useable. Without the micrometer stage, it is difficult to locae the sample to be photographed. The lack of condensor also reduced its resolution. I was not able to use the microscope because I do not have a suitable lighting. When I realised the LED flash for mobile phone is ideal, I started taking these photos.

Mobile LED Flash light is the best Microscope light

It has a rechargeable battery. I kept it for a few years inside a refrigerator until the battery was flat but once recharged, it still works. It has 3 settings which came in handy because at the highest setting it is too bright for the 10x objective lens but slightly dark for the 100x objetive. I have actually ordered 30W LED floodlights but it may be too bright for the microscope, except for the 100x objective.

Barlow Lens is better for Camera adapter

It did not work. It cannot focus to infinity. After reading reviews in youtube, it is obvious that we need barlow lens. He mentioned about some barlow lenses that are equipped with camera adapter but he did not state the magnifiation. 5x should be better. My telescope is a cheap one with only 200mm focal length, 76mm diameter, so hopefully a 5x barlow lens is suitable to be connected to telescope eyepiece. I also had problems with my mirrorless. The image is too small so by making it larger, it can utilise the entire 24Mpixel of the camera sensor. So need to have a barlow lens. Unfortunately, a telecope barlow lens cannot be fitted to a microscope eyepiece.

Microphotography using an industrial 5Mpixel camera

My microscope is a professional one but old fashioned.    I bought it many years ago, for US100 from Aliexpress.    Now, this model is not for sale but an equivalent is still available, costing about US100 also.    I also bought recently a student version with a maximum objective of less than 40x, because it is not capable of oil immersion but its tube is too short  and its stage is too small to accommodate a micro adjustable stage.  It will be too difficult to move the glass slides. However, the student microscope comes with 5 sample glass slides. Another potential problem is the lack of a condensor in the lighting system. The student microscope only comes with a mirror, because it is not designed for the 100x oil immersion objective. As a rule of thumb, the maximum magnification of an objective is 1000x its N.A., numerical aperture. The 100x is 1.2, 40x is 0.65, the 10x is 0.25. Based on the pictures taken, it was not clear when I u
