My microscope is a professional one but old fashioned.    I bought it many years ago, for US100 from Aliexpress.    Now, this model is not for sale but an equivalent is still available, costing about US100 also.    I also bought recently a student version with a maximum objective of less than 40x, because it is not capable of oil immersion but its tube is too short  and its stage is too small to accommodate a micro adjustable stage.  It will be too difficult to move the glass slides. However, the student microscope comes with 5 sample glass slides. Another potential problem is the lack of a condensor in the lighting system. The student microscope only comes with a mirror, because it is not designed for the 100x oil immersion objective. As a rule of thumb, the maximum magnification of an objective is 1000x its N.A., numerical aperture. The 100x is 1.2, 40x is 0.65, the 10x is 0.25.
